Smiling...

A great deal goes into a smile you know... It takes 17 muscles just to make one...

I've been smiling more recently. Things are calming down at work; becoming less stressful. I haven't talked to my Dad or Sister since - obviously much less stress there... Each day I become more in tune with the rhythm of the universe. The Law of Conservation of Energy states that Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed. In my few years on this Earth in this body I've had a hard time with this "change" not really understanding why its a necessary part of life, and of course death. I accept the change, and understand its a natural part of life... That's my new affirmation.

These are a few of the times i've smiled this week:

When I painted this beautiful Watercolour of my Grandmothers Purple Iris'

When I watch the sun set this weekend on the beach, so still and quiet

The day I discovered and purchased this amazing piece of Amethyst and meditated all night

"Wing fest" at my sisters house... (We cooked over 250 wings)
I had JUST as many beers too! ;)

I've got to get back to discovering what makes me smile, rather than what makes me frown. Who the hell wants to spend life using all those muscles to frown (43 so I'm told) when you can take the lazy way out and smile! ;)

What makes YOU smile?

Embrace the Journey
Bret

Good for you! It's important when things are hairy to find what makes you smile...make a concious effort to find that one thing, even when you don't feel like it, that will make you feel even just a little bit happy...it helps you keep living.

And...cute guy? You better call me and dish my friend!!!!

oh, you are talented - soft yet edgy, like it.

Smiles are good, I've been doing a little of that myself just recently.

Keep them coming for yourself.

Just seeing a photo of those wings makes me want to hurl myself off the vegetarian wagon face first in to a plate with hot sauce and blue cheese dressing!! You are so right about smiling. Sometimes, just ticking off a list of gratitude helps turn my frown upside down. For the ultimate smiles and laughs, I think you should fly over here, put on some geeky coke bottle glasses with me and we'll go produce bowling at my local supermarket :)))

PS: I love the amethyst. I have a beautiful huge amethyst ring that belonged to my grandmother. It's quite the bling!

I am so happy that you are finding things that make you smile. Just smiling and laughing (even forced) will release 'happy' hormones that automatically makes you feel better- weird, i know.
I LOVE your painting, it is beautiful, and the picture of the chicken wings and mention of beer totally made me want to have some- HUNGRY and BEER.... YUM.
allowing yourself some grace to be sad/angry/down is good, but it's also great to find small joys... not feeling guilty for either the sad or happy moments. :)

Many Blessings Bret!

This is a post to cherish! :o) You're right, it's so much better finding reasons to smile at than the opposite! Loved your posted reasons, by the way, that amethyst is awesome! And your watercolor is so sweet (Lucas is here in my lap, pointed it out and said, "a Van Gogh" LOL) And it does look like one!

Now I also have more reasons to smile, since at my mom's, they're such fun people to be with, soon my tired eyes will look better..
Thank you for your words of support, brett. Every time someone I care write something positive for me,I feel lucky.

kisses from the two of us.

All those things are wonderful reasons to smile.
Being a Sagittarian with Mercury in Sag too, I generally find alot of things to smile and laugh at. To the horror of my family at times. But a wicked sense of humor and some hearty laughter I wouldn't ever want to do without.

Keep smiling!! And as often as possible.... it makes people wonder what you've been up to!!!

As soon as the stream is lower, take some time and examine the exactly how the h2o is moving. Water that appears to be continue to is the place where the deeper station can be found. The station will probably be in which the most seafood will probably be. It is because the channel is the deepest part of the river. somgjbli
